OHIO FBI AND
BCI&I BACKGROUND CHECKS
FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
DOES GABRIEL OFFER INK ROLLED
FINGERPRINTING ON CARDS?
Yes! We are one of the few
companies in Ohio that still
provides ink rolled prints on the
card that you take with you!
HOW DOES THE FINGERPRINTING
PROCESS WORK?
In the traditional method of
fingerprinting, ink is applied to
each of your fingers which are
then rolled across a fingerprint
card to obtain your prints. With
electronic fingerprinting, there
is no ink or card. Your
fingerprints are placed on a
glass plate and scanned. It is
faster and cleaner than the
traditional method. Electronic
fingerprinting reduces the
likelihood of illegible
fingerprints and will reduce the
overall application processing
time.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BE
PRINTED?
The entire fingerprinting process
takes 5-10 minutes.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET THE
RESULTS?
Background check results with
no hits are returned
anywhere within 1 hour to 72
hours. Results are generally
available within two business
days. BCI often clears background
checks sooner than the guaranteed
two business days. However, when
the background check finds a
criminal record, BCI mails the
search results via the US Postal
Service. Therefore, in this
situation, arrival of the results
depends upon the mail delivery.
FBI results generally take
several weeks to return results.
DO YOU CONDUCT BOTH BCI&I AND
FBI CHECKS?
Yes. We submit electronically to
the State and Federal Bureaus.
DO EXPUNGED RECORDS SHOW UP ON
BACKGROUND CHECKS?
For the most part, private
employers, landlords and others
who perform a background check on
you will not find your expunged
records. If you are applying for
a direct care position, expunged
records will be included in the
results.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING IN ORDER
TO GET PRINTED?
You need to bring a valid
drivers license or State
ID.
WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT DO YOU
ACCEPT?
For companies that have an
account with Gabriel Staffing
Associates, as a Client,
invoicing on net 30 terms is
available.
For individuals, we accept credit
cards or cash. If paying with
cash we do ask that you bring
exact change.
WHY FINGERPRINT?
In at least 28 states, Negligent
Hiring and Retention Laws hold
employers liable for willful
misconduct by their employees. In
some cases, it does not matter if
the actions of the employee occur
outside of the place or scope of
employment. Failure to screen
current and prospective employees
for criminal history and
substance abuse can cost your
company millions of dollars!
WHAT
IS WEBCHECK®?
Gabriel utilizes the National
WebCheck® system for electronic
fingerprint submissions.
WebCheck® is an innovative
program developed by the Ohio
Bureau of Criminal Identification
and Investigation (BC&I) to
reduce the chances of persons
convicted of sex crimes, certain
misdemeanors and felonies having
access to our children or other
vulnerable citizens of Ohio.
National WebCheck® is a
partnership between BCI and the
FBI to conduct FBI background
checks.
A major component of the Ohio
Automated Fingerprint System
allows us to submit civilian
background checks to the bureaus
through the World Wide Web.
WebCheck®, which uses the
internet to electronically
tr4ansfer fingerprints and other
date from our agency to BCI, was
implemented in 1999.
Participating agencies include
school districts, education
associations, children, hospitals
and public institutions. This
technology profoundly impacts the
speed at which results of the
background checks are available.
The electronic process greatly
benefits employers who want a
comprehensive statewide search,
mandated industries and
individuals with licensure
requirements.
This search meets the requirement
for charter and community
schools, day care providers,
nursing homes, foster caretakers,
adoptive parents and driving
record instructors.
Gabriel Staffing Associates is
registered with the State of
Ohio Attorney Generals Office as a
WebCheck® Community provider.
Gabriel Provides convenient
walk-in services Monday through
Thursday from 9am3pm.
Gabriel also provides a rolled
fingerprint service for your
convenience and can also scan and
submit your rolled BCI&I or
FBI print cards.
